Beautifying our school
Parents, community members and PTO members have been working hard to make our school more beautiful. There has been some great painting going on inside and outside the building by Mary Rhinelander, Aria McElhenny, our new PTO President Muffy White and Principal Bach. Our grounds clean-up day is happening this coming weekend. Thanks to all who have and are helping to make EGS a more beautiful place to learn!

Gardening at EGS
All of the students at EGS had a chance to learn about some different vegetable plants, composting and planting thanks to the PTO and parent volunteers. The children tasted leaves of plants in an effort to guess which vegetable it was. They looked at books about composting and even got to plant their own vegetable in the school garden. Anyone interested in learning more about gardening can join the garden club on Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30. The children will weed, water and learn about caring for a garden. Please contact Mandy Davis if you are interested or have any questions at mandy.davis@comcast.net

Violinist Visits EGS
On May 8, students in East Gloucester School's 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades enjoyed a visit by Boston Symphony Orchestra violinist, Elita Kang. Ms. Kang performed for the students, answered questions about her work with the BSO, and treated several children to a "mini-lesson" on a student violin. This wonderful presentation was sponsored by Rockport's Music Outreach Program.
