Recent Announcements

  • Stockings for Soldiers East Gloucester School students in grades 1,3 and 4, in conjunction with, the Gloucester Veterans' Center participated in the Stockings for Soldiers program.  Children wrote thank you notes to the soldiers.  They also stuffed stocking with goodies, donated by EGS parents, for the soldiers along with thank you note.  The stockings will be sent to the soldiers for the holiday season.

  • Thanksgiving STEM Challenge The 1st grade and 5th grade buddies worked on a Thanksgiving STEM challenge today.  It was great to see both grades engaged and working together!

  • Kops N Kids The Kops N Kids visited EGS for the second time this year.  The Gloucester Police Department enjoyed talking with the students and handing out their very own trading cards.  Each child received one card.  On subsequent visits each child will collect another trading card.  The first child to collect all fourteen trading cards will receive a ride to school in a police car.

  • Veteran's Day In observance of Veterans Day, Adam Curcuru, Director of Veterans' Services in Gloucester, organized a book reading to our K-2 students.  The veterans and active duty service men read Veterans: Heroes in Our Neighborhood by Valerie Pfundstein.  Michael Grossi, Corporal, U.S. Marine Corp veteran and parent reading to Mrs. Sanfilippo's 1st grade class. Curtis Wrightman, Staff Sergeant, U.S Army, veteran and DPW employee and Brian O'Connor, retired 1st Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corp, read and showed army equipment to Mrs. Telles' 1st Grade class. Brian O'Connor, retired 1st Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corp, showing equipment to Mrs. Telles' 1st Grade class.    Ryan Carvalho, U.S. Coast Guard, active duty, and Payton Skidmore, U.S ...

  • Summer Reading Celebration Over the summer children where given the option of reading three books and writing a summary about those books and submitting them to Mrs. Francis.  Children that completed this extra reading assignment were treated to an ice cream party.  Congrats to our summer readers.
