The 1st and 5th graders of EGS worked together to integrate community service and learning to count by twos. The 1st grade held a drive to collect socks for the soldiers overseas.  For every pair of socks received a paper pair of socks was colored by the children.   The colored pairs of socks were then made into a chain. This visual helped the children understand how many pairs of socks were collected.  The real socks will be delivered to the Gloucester Veteran's Center to be given to soldiers overseas this holiday season.  The total pairs of socks collected was 534.  Way to go EGS 1st and 5th graders!!!
