Recently our first and second graders were treated to a chamber music concert by the Aeolus String Quartet from New York City. They were encouraged to listen actively by learning the rhythms of a particular piece and clapping the parts as they were played by the individual instruments. They talked about the difference between hearing and listening. Children were invited to use their imaginations to form stories in their minds according to the mood and tempo of the music. They will be playing around the North Shore for the rest of the week and will be performing at the Shalin Liu in Rockport and the Cape Ann Historical Museum this Saturday. Ask your child about their experience...Click on the link below to see part of their show.
