The children were visited by Edmund Veator, a veteran of the US Army, who was active duty during the Vietnam War. He is also the past commander and an active member of the Gloucester AMVETs post 32. In March 2016 he will be the recipient of the AMVETs National Silver Helmet award. The AMVETs post 32 organization is very active in the lives of local disabled vets and veterans homes. There is also a local Sons of the American Legion chapter. The children were all invited to attend the City of Gloucester's celebration of Veterans Day at Gloucester High School Field House at 9:00 am.
